The Advanced Concepts and Technologies Group develops radar, communications, and systems technologies for use in future air defense systems. Of particular interest is the development of highly digitized phased-array radars and advanced signal processing techniques to enable the next generation of shipboard and airborne surveillance sensors. Major activities within the group include system concept development, modeling and simulation, signal processing algorithm design, prototype system design and development, and experimental field testing and data analysis. As an FPGA / Digital Design Intern, you will be expected to take high-level functional requirements, design and implement an FPGA solution to meet those requirements, and perform bench testing to verify that the design/implementation is acceptable. Coding, synthesis, simulation, lab testing, debugging, and troubleshooting skills will be required to be successful. The primary project for this internship will use an FPGA (Artix-7 35T or similar) to digitally control various RF components in a radar front-end with low latency. The ability to perform remote health/status monitoring, and diagnostics will also be an important component in this project. The successful candidate will be enrolled in an undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A strong working knowledge of FPGA development process and lifecycle, digital circuit design, build synthesis, and lab bring-up is required. Hands-on laboratory experience working with and debugging hardware and software is preferred. MIT Lincoln Laboratory is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, veteran status, disability status, or genetic information. U.S. Citizenship Required.
