The Systems Engineering Group seeks an intern to assist staff members in Systems Engineering and Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering. Example projects include imaging sensors, laser communications systems and radar systems for airborne, terrestrial and space environments with an emphasis on small satellites and CubeSat applications. Systems Engineering duties could include supporting payload architecture definition (optical, mechanical, electrical), generating system-level block diagrams (electrical and/or mechanical), environment hazard analysis of sensitive components, and integration and test planning. Systems engineering projects may also include creating/maintaining integrated systems models using SysML tools (MBSE). Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering duties may include creating and running finite element models using MSC/PATRAN, analyzing model results, structural and thermal testing, design using SolidWorks, creating databases, and running software analysis codes.The successful candidate should have at least have junior standing in his/her engineering field. Programs of study include Aeronautics/Astronautics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or equivalent. Finite element analysis and/or CAD experience preferred, but not required. Experience in modelling systems using commercial MBSE software packages (ex.
